Edward - A Dignified Bowfront Dresser

Edward when I found him.

In pretty good shape !!  A top I can save ...
This is Edward now.
He's neutral, sophisticated , smart, and good looking.  At home in any home.
My pictures are not up to par.  apologizes.
This smart fellow was redone with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Paris Grey.
Distressed. & finished with Fiddes Natural Wax.
The top was sanded smooth to highlight and bring out the gorgeous grain, then stained with a dark walnut.  Also, finished and buffed with Fiddes Wax.
All products a joy to work with.

He's a keeper.  I might just have to hold on to him!

Monterey - Coastal Inspired Chest of Drawers

What she looked like when I found her.  Before.

This is Monterey now.
She was inspired by a friend.  A friend who is also looking to redo a piece of furniture who wanted a white base with a glaze finish in blues & grays ...  this was my "sample" before working on her piece.
I really like the way Monterey has turned out!

The interior of the drawers are painted with Benjamin Moore Wythe Blue.  That is also the paint I mixed with a glaze to finish the exterior.  For a third layer, I also brushed on a milky white wash.

My pictures don't do a great job telling the story.  It is time to update my point and shoot camera !!

Another rescued piece of furniture.
I think she was also inspired by the heat wave we are swimming in as well.
She's a cool customer on a hot planet ...

Peace & Blessings All

Molly the Tea Cart gets a Fresh, French Makeover

Update on Molly -  She was cute, but no one would buy her.  hhhmmm.  So, what to do ?
Take an orbital sander to her of course !

How Molly got roughed up and SOLD.

Honestly, she was cooler more distressed.
A young couple snatched her up and are planning to use her as a mini bar.
Cheers and Hurray for Old Molly !!  ~ SOLD ~

This old tea cart was a forgotten old server from a very long time ago.  It was hiding in a back corner of a dining room being sad, dark and gloomy - overlooked for many years.

This wallflower needed some understanding, love and a vintage french chocolate label painted on her top...

Thanks to the The Graphics Fairies super cool French Chocolate Image, it was just the flair that this old girl needed to get back in the game!  Honestly, before I saw that label, I was not inspired by this old girl myself ...

Tea Cart Before :

This is Molly the Foxy, French Tea Cart Now :

Feeling fresh, french & frisky.
This sweet girl is ready to get back to work and look good while doing it -
Really, isn't that what we all want out of our lives ?

I have truly enjoyed watching Molly come alive.  I can't wait to meet her new owner!

Find peace in your painting friends...

Shabby Palooza - Lucketts, VA

I am lucky enough to live near Lucketts, Va.
The epicenter of all things shabby, repurposed, filled with character and estrogen packed.
I was unlucky enough to be out of town for the huge Lucketts Fair this past May.
Soooooo, my best friend (who also refreshes vintage furniture) and I took a day trip.

Some of our take home loot

Rooms and rooms of gorgeous, and more gorgeous finds

It's a very happy place to shop

Yours Truly in Miss Mustard Seeds Famous chair.
Yes, her stuff is more beautiful in person than on her blog!

If you get a chance to go, you too could sit in one of Miss Mustard Seeds Chairs!
It's a great trip, beats any mall, any day.
cheers all!

Smokin' Grey Dresser - for moi

This dresser is one of the first pieces I bought to refresh.
I found it on CraigsList and thought I had won the lottery.  When I took out the 1st drawer to begin to load into my truck, it fell apart!  The sweet girl selling it to me knocked off another $20 bucks from embarrassment. I re-glued the dovetails once I got it all home, those drawers work just fine now.
Elbow grease is my middle name.
It has sat in my studio patiently waiting since March.

Dresser Before

My New Dresser Now

I used Behr Paint & Primer (which I LOVE) in Suede Grey.
Then added a light layer of black glaze over that.
Finished with Gloss Rub On Poly.
I adore this dresser.
I am just waiting for it to cure 100%.  The nice guy at the Ben Moore store once told me it takes at least 2 weeks for a gloss finish to dry completely.
After a lot of experience of my own, I believe him :-)

happy trails y'all !

~ SOLD, to me ~

Audrey The Graceful

 Isn't she pretty?

Can't you see a young lady with her first place using this table ... for, everything ??
I can't wait to meet her sweet new owner ... this set is destined for a good home!
Audrey is on CraigsList, I hope we find the right girl soon...

We found her :-)

Billy the Bully goes to Hollister for a Makeover

This was Billy before.  Loved his sturdy build and great storage.  I love storage!

This is Billy the Bully now.
More comfortable in his own skin.  Still tough, still a hard worker, just a bit more up-to-date

I kept some of the wood untouched on the interior.  I like to give a nod to the past ...

Distressed, but has some shine to him.

Art deco restyled ...
